Story
Yadouga is the product of designer Kirsten Yadouga Schwinn's early 1970s upbringing and her love of New York City. Her accessories are a clever mix of modern color and classic, easy styling. The line reflects her passion for beautiful materials and authentic, honest design, honed through her career as a Handbag and Accessory Designer.
Already in love with fashion at a young age, Kirsten spent her early years endlessly sketching bags, shoes, and jewelry and learning to sew. Growing up outside of New York City in the 1970s, Kirsten was inspired by chic American style icons and the laid-back glamour of New York women; and attending her dad's music gigs downtown further shaped her "un-done luxury" aesthetic.
Kirsten attended classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology at the age of sixteen. Her first position in the fashion industry was at Gianni Versace - first as a “shop girl” and later as a stylist for Versace's high profile and celebrity clientele. Working closely with their couture samplemakers taught her to appreciate the beauty and importance of meticulous craftsmanship. Kirsten’s career has since included designing for international luxury collections as well as emerging contemporary brands; Reed Krakoff and Madewell among them.
Vintage references and classic silhouettes in Italian leather prevail in this handcrafted collection for Spring 2012. Launched in 2010, Yadouga accessories are designed and produced locally in New York City.
